Windows 95/98 - unwanted program removal

Question
QUESTION: how do I get rid of a program that doesn't show up in the add/remove programs function. thanks

ANSWER: Hello Gwayne. When a program does not show up in the Add/Remove Program section it most likely means it is a 'Stand Alone' program, meaning it never had to be installed and worked without installation. In order to remove this program, just simply delete the program (and any files that go with the program) in the directory where the program is located. What is this program? I am just curious because even though you may not want it, it may be necessary for Windows to run correctly. Just a precaution is all. Any further concerns, feel free to contact me. Good luck

QUESTION: This unwanted program is called Antivir64 2.7. It is an anti-virus program that popped up on its own. I opened it because I thought it was free; of course, it's not. How do I find the directory where it's located. Thanks a lot.

Answer
Hello Gwayne, the simplest way to delete this program is to open Search by hitting 'Start' button and mousing over to "Find Files and Folders" and to 'Computer'. Type the program name into the search bar and the search results should at least show the program and it "may" show other files related to this program. Good luck and have a nice day Gwayne.
