Windows 95/98 - Modem icon missing

Expert: Lorry - 10/20/2009

Question
I need to reinstall my modem driver but the modem icon is missing in my control panel.  How would I get it back?  I use Windows 98.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Irene,

it is a file called modem.cpl
If it is nowhere on your hard disk, then ask a friend who has windows 98 to copy the file to a floppy disk. Copy it to the windows system folder. (It is not inside a windows98 cab file.)

If you have a W98 CD, type sfc in the Run box then use the extract facility to copy modem.cpl from your W98CD to c:\windows\system

Hope this helps!
Lorry
