Windows 95/98 - Hard Drive Partition

Expert: Kevin - 5/23/2009

Question
I am trying to install WinXP on a Compaq Presario C700 laptop. Had some problems so I installed Win 98 without a problem.

Then I tried to upgrade WIn 98 to WinXP and struck a problem because only 2GB of the 80GB HDD is accessable.

How can I free up the other 78GB so WinXP will install?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Answer
Hi Steve, is this a clean install? Did you try to format the entire drive before installing XP? There is an option in the XP CD when you boot it up (right before you tell it to install) that let's you format it first. Do a full format.

Kevin.
