Windows 95/98 - Windows 98 problem

Expert: Lorry - 6/22/2009

Question
have 2001 dell w/ 7GB C drive and Windows 98. Suddenly cannot run MS Word (2000)-system says not enough internal or disc space. Yet 4GB of disc is free space! Tried to delete temp internet(300MB) files but system said no-program files are on it.  when I open word the  System says "illegal operation" and closes. can do web browser

Answer
Hi Ken,

Try defragmenting the drive if you haven't done so yet. Turn Windows off for a few minutes, then restart. Does that help? Try using Word without any other programs opened at the same time. It could be a simple thing as a memory problem.

Try downloading Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.2 to check for spyware from:

Try downloading Ad-aware 6.0 build 181 to check for adware, available from:

Hope this helps!
