Question Hello -
I just dusted off an old laptop that I havent used in years. It's an IBM Thinkpad (circa 1998/99). It works fine and starts up rather quickly. Problem is that I cant figure out how to install a wireless connection (I previously used a modem).
Right now, I use a desktop and connect at home via Time/Warner cable. I would like to be more mobile (Hence digging up the old laptop. No $$ for a new one).
Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance.
Best Regards,
Evelyn
Answer Hi Evelyn,
First, to make your notebook wireless, you either need a USB wireless internet send-receive unit ($30 at Wal-Mart) or, if you have no USB ports on your Thinkpad, a PCMCIA card with wireless connectivity.
After that is a wireless router' that connects to your Roadrunner modem and talks to your notebook through the send-receive unit. Those are also $29 at Walmart. Recommend a Belkin brand.
