Question QUESTION: I have a problem with the settings on my computer. I think the best way I can explain this is by giving you an example of the problem.
When logged into a site such as myyearbook.com, the background on my profile page does not show. The pointer and the other animated things that move over the profile are there but the background picture is not. The background looks white. If I'm on another computer, the actual background is there and visible.
Also, when I'm in other web sites sometimes there are other things that will not be visible to me (but are actually there). If I know where the button is (for example) I can still go to where the button should be then select and click on the button. Again, where a button or background should be, I only see white.
Seems my settings are off and I can't figure out what causes this sort of problem so I can reset properly.
I would really appreciate your help if you can help me!
Thank you!
ANSWER: Hi Zebbie, it's probably some setting under the Advanced tab in Internet Explorer. You are using Internet Explorer when this happens correct? If so, go to Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab and click on the button that says Reset Web Settings. Confirm it and close Internet Explorer. Launch it again and see if your website background in your profile is working properly now.
Yes, I use Internet Explorer. Not sure which verison of Windows I'm using, how do I check? I opened Internet Explorer, then Tools, Internet Options, Programs. But there is not anything in Programs called Reset Web Settings. Looked under the Advanced tab, didn't find it there either. I don't find Reset Web Settings anywhere.
I have tried to fix this in the past by clicking on everything that said 'reset', but this didn't fix the problem either.
Maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
Answer You can get the version by going to Internet Explorer > Help > About.
See if you can reset the settings by using the Fix It tool by Microsoft:
Just click on the Fix It button to download the tool. Save it to your desktop and then double click on it to run the tool. Make sure Internet Explorer is closed before you run it. See if that helps.
