Question
Dear Kevin,

i have a maxtor basicsTM 300GB external HDD which has been detected on this compaq presario 1685 notebook with winME. After connecting the HDD thro' USB port, the HDD is detected as mass storage device, and is successfully installed with the drivers. the drive also shows up in the hardware profile, BUT I couldn't find a new drive as in WinXP or Vista, neither a new drive letter is taking me to the HDD contents. Plz help !!

Answer
Hi Navin, I'm not sure I quite understand the question here. Is it found by Windows ME and not by Windows XP/Vista? If so, right click on My Computer and go to Manage. Then on the left side, go down to Disk Management and see if you see the 300GB drive there. If so, right click on it and select the option to add the drive letter. After giving it a drive letter, you should see it in My Computer as the letter you assigned to it.

Kevin.
