Windows NT - Automatic shutdown

Expert: Chris Schuh - 10/16/2007

Question
I recently aquired a computer that was highly secured (used to be a hotel internet kiosk) and everytime I manage to get to the desktop, it prompts me to save my work because it will be restarting in 30 seconds. I have been forced to shuffle through as many menus as I can within 30 seconds, which is no fun! I want to know how to override it and disable this function so I can clear all the software off of it. Any help?

Answer
Hi Drew,

You would have to really contact the place where you got it from and see how to disable that type of thing. That would have to be a 3rd party software package running, not a Windows NT setting. Stuff like that usually has a password on it, too - so they would have that information.

Cheers,

Chris
