Windows NT - Firewall

Expert: Chris Schuh - 3/23/2005

Question
Chris-
I just purchased a new computer which runs XP Home. Can you tell me if the XP firewall is sufficient or should I purchase Norton Personal Firewall, etc? My provider is Road Runner.
Thanks,
Jerry

Answer
Hi Jerry,

The XP firewall is usually sufficient, but it all depends on how secure you want the computer to be. Adding another layer (Norton Firewall) would increase the security of the PC, but you'd have to decide on if the money and effort is worth it. If you don't install Norton, ensure that you update Windows XP at least once a week to ensure you have maximum protection against other threats.

Cheers,

Chris
