Windows NT - High Speed USB Host Controller

Expert: Chris Schuh - 4/15/2006

Question
Hi,

I am using pentium III with windows XP. When I Connect my DVD Writer to My PC I get a message like

" HI SPEED usb device is plugged into a non-hi speed hub. install hi speed usb host contorller."

Please let me know how can I solve this problem or please send me a link from where I can download a HI Speed Host Controller.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Mahboob,

This could be due to your system having USB 1.1 ports. There are two versions of USB - 1.1 and 2.0. You'll have to consult your system documentation to see what version your hardware supports. Please note that this is a hardware version and has nothing to do with Windows. If you installed Linux on the computer, the USB version would be the same because the hardware is the same.

So, I'd double check what hardware version you have and also see what the DVD writer requires (I'm assuming it's USB 2.0).

Cheers,

Chris
