Windows NT - Turn a Computer on or off

Expert: Chris Schuh - 1/13/2006

Question
What's better for your computer, to turn if off or leave it on at night?  I use it all day in my work at home and currently leave it on, with the monitor off.  Thank you
Ley Borlo

Answer
Hi Ley,

Technically, it is better for the mechcanical pieces to be left of when the machine isn't in use. While computers can run 24x7, they do have mechanical parts and electrical parts that will simply wear out with extended use.

Cheers,

Chris
