Question QUESTION: Is it possible to install and configure all DNS,DHCP,WINS and IIS services on a single server?
ANSWER: Dear RAM,
How are you doing? Yes it is possible, but not recommended. Because the performance will be degraded. As all servers are located at same ip address, each and every client send requests to the same address in order to take the each of above said services. So ultimately, response time will become more. Better Install DNS and WINS on one server as they both do same thing. Then DHCP and IIS on one server. Its very helpful. But remember after installing the DHCP, give static ip's to all the servers. Because if the servers also get ip from DHCP, every time they boot the ip will be changed. It creates a problem for client in order to find the server.
I Hope this is informative for you. I would like to thank you for asking me this question.

QUESTION: if DNS failure..what happens and how to retrive the DNS zones??
ANSWER: Hi RAM,
How are you doing? DNS server main purpose is Name Resolutions. I hope you are aware of this. If the DNS Server fails, the communication between systems will become difficult. because, they doesn't have knowledge of other systems ip addresses. In order to get this information they will contact dns server. If the dns server fails, name resolution process is not available. so obviously the systems does not contact other systems using dns names. But they will communicate, if they know the ip address of particular system. For this scenario i will tell you one example. Make one system as DNS server and another 2 systems as clients. Configure server's ip address as preferred dns server in the clients tcp/ip properties. don't provide alternative dns. Try pining all systems using the dns name and then ip address in the clients. You will get response in 2 ways. And remove the network cable of dns server, try pinging in both ways. You will get response in one waty, i.e when you ping using ip address only you will get response, and not with dns name. I think you got the point. So when you trying to ping using dns name, and at the time of dns server failure you will not get the ip address. So the communication is not possible. But if the system is aware of other systems ip address then it will communicates without dns also. But in larger networks it is not possible to provide all ip's to every system. And coming to dns retrieval, if the dns is in active directory integrated mode, you should have backup of system state prior to the failure date. From that u can restore the dns. Why the system state backup is needed in the sense, in the AD intergrated DNS the information will be stored in Active Directory Database. If you have a backup of that database you can restore it to the prior settings. And if the dns is in normal mode it will stores its information in the form of files in the directory called
C:\Windows\System32\dns folder. You backup of those files in order to restore it to previous state.
I hope this is informative for you. I would like to thank you for asking me this question.
Thanks for your previous rating, so that i can perform better. But remember one thing this is a free service. I have to spend my valuable time to answer each and every question. So sometimes the answer has less matter with high information. If you have any doubts you can ask me. You are the first one, who rated me with less points. I appreciate your ratings. Once again thank you.

QUESTION: Can u explain about KCC,site links and sitelink bridge??
Answer Hi Ram,
How are you doing? I hope my previous answer helped u. Ya coming to KCC, the full form is Knowledge Consistency Checker... KCC is a module programmed under Windows Active Directory. It was very helpful in the concepts of Sites and Services. Based on connections we are using, and physical location of our office branches we will manage our network infra through sites and services. Basically the links between sites are created automatically, when we promote additional domain controllers. These links are established automatically independent of actual network (physical) structure using KCC only. After that depending on the location we will create different sites and subnets. We will add corresponding servers to those sites. Once those are created the replication process begins to occur...Site link is a link establish either manually or automatically between two sites. Site link bridge is nothing but the way of communication we use to establish a link between sites..
I hope this is informative for you. I would like to thank you for asking me this question.
