Windows Networking - Problem with modem connection

Expert: Hrire Mikaelian - 7/23/2008

Question
Hi Hrire,
I have two computers at my home connected through a device which works as a modem and a switch. My internet connection is Broadband. When I connect to internet from a computer and disconnect later the other computer can not connet to internet after that.It shows "connecting through wan miniport(PPPoE)" and stuck there. If I reset the modem the problem solves.
How can I solve the problem without resetting the modem?

Answer
You will have to go into the router configuration and set it up so that it is a broadband DHCP connection is pppoe and ensure that the userid and password are correct.

If it works always for one computer but not the other, it could be that the problem computer has the software installed for connecting to it.  You should take out that software and try to let the modem control the connection.
