Question
hi
i am trying to deploy a dhcp server on our server with 2003 windows OS.this server is part of a workgroup and i dont have active directory.after i configure it and define all the scopes and disable dhcp function of the linksys router, it wont work and no computer is allocated an address for it ,also the dhcp rule in the server is indicating that it is active.
please i need ur help.

Answer
Hello Hussein,

the first thing I would check is to see if their are any event logs and troubleshoot accordingly.

Can you client PCs ping the server (using the PING utility)  by its IP address?  If not, then you have IP connection or routing issues.

Is there a firewall either on server or between the server and the rest of the dhcp clients?  If so, it could be blocking DHCP requests.

The following article shows how to setup dhcp in a workgroup.  It has links at the bottom for troubleshooting.

If you cannot find a resolution, post back and I will try my best to help you further.
