Answer
Hi Lori.

From what I understand, you have a wireless laptop and a WIRED desktop and WIRED PRINTER?

If this is the case, use this solution:

-attach the printer using either USB or Parallel cable directly to the desktop PC.
-when you install the software for it, you should be able to directly print to it from the desktop.
-go to START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/PRINTER (on the desktop), and right click on the printer and select SHARING
-call the printer something simple like Printer with no spaces or punctuation.  This allows the printer to be seen by other machines

-go to your laptop and try to browse for the computer name you called the desktop.  When you find the desktop name, you should be able to double click and find the printer there.  You want to right click on the printer and click on Install.  You won't need to do this again.

Printing should work fine from now on.  The only caveat here is that your PC needs to be on with this direct wired connection.

If you want to get back to me and let me know if this helped, that would be great.  Also, if your printer is a wireless one, I would give you more instructions.

I hope this helped.
