Windows Vista/Battery icon on taskbar . . .
Expert: Saed Shawwa - 10/24/2009
QuestionQUESTION: Saad,
The last few times I've booted up my H-P laptop, the battery power level icon has not shown up on the taskbar. I went to the "Help" area which directed me to Battery Meter FAQ. When I go to Properties --> Notification area tab, the "Power" option under system icons is grayed out so I cannot select it to be turned on.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Ron
ANSWER: Hello Ron how are you doing
there are a lot of tweaks to fix that problem so lets start with the easiest one
open that link and download the file
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9646677
then run the file and go through it , next i agree etc..
then reboot your machine and see if you got the battery icon fixed
let me know how it goes so we can try the other harder fixes
take care and have a nice day.

QUESTION: Saad,
Your suggestion worked perfectly --- the battery icon was on the taskbar as soon as the computer was rebooted. I didn't even have to turn it back on myself.
Should I keep the "Microsoft Fixit5029" in my downloads folder --- would it be useful to me for any other reason?
I'm grateful that you are willing to offer your services via AllExperts to novices like me and get nothing more than a virtual "pat on the back" in return.
Thank you,
Ron
