About James Milligan
Expertise I currently use Windows Vista Home Premium on one laptop, Windows 7 on another, plus I run Windows XP Media Centre 2005 via a Virtual Machine on an Ubuntu host. Working in an IT shop, I have experience with a huge range of questions, so be assured of the correct response based on your level of expertise.
I always try to answer questions within 24 hours, sooner if possible. I once had a case where I had responded to a question within 3 minutes of it being asked!
Of course, no-one knows everything, so there may be the odd case where it might take longer to research or even develop a solution for your particular case. I am learning Visual Basic .NET 2008, so I will also attempt to create bespoke solutions in the near future.
Please take a look at my ratings page, where you will see a plethora of 10 out of 10's, as well as great comments from nearly all questioners.
Experience I've used Windows computers since an early age, and have used Vista since the day it came out. I use it on my main computer, and customise it a great deal. I regularly help people setting up their computers, and maintaining them. I'm used to novices and experts alike, and don't believe in just literally fixing a problem - I like to explain why the problem occurred and how it can be fixed in the future.

Windows Vista - accessing floppys in Vista
Expert: James Milligan - 11/3/2009
Question I have 10 years of word processing files saved on 3.5 disks, created in MS Word 97 and I used Windows 98. Now on my new Vista computer a the message keeps coming up to format the disks. Any suggestions please????
Answer Erm other than the standard advice which is not to use floppies, there's not much I can do without being there physically.
If they're all the same, then I can only assume that either:
The floppies have become corrupted (e.g. filesystem errors or even dust inside the case)
Your floppy drive has a malfunction.
