Question
QUESTION: I was sent a file via Gmail which I downloaded and proceeded to edit for two hours.  I then saved it, forgetting that I actually hadn't saved it to a folder in my hard drive.  Is this gone forever?  Is there a way to retrieve it.

It seems to save under C - Documents and Settings - My_name - Local Settings - Temporary Internet Files ... and then a sub-folder therein.  But nothing I do lets me see the Temp Int Files via Windows Explorer.

Would much appreciate it if I didn't have to re-do all my work!  Thanks.

ANSWER: Hi Ed,

With Windows Explorer opened, go to Tools, Folder Options, under the View tab check "Show hidden files and folders" under "Hidden files and folders", click Apply, then OK. Now you should be able to open the file in question.

Just in case that doesn't do the trick, go to Start, Search, For files and folders and do a search for it.

Hope this helps!

QUESTION: Many thanks, Lorry. Unfortunately, I tried both those tricks before sending the email and no luck.  Not sure what to do next...

I very much appreciate the quick response.  That was fast!

Answer
Hi Ed,

Sorry the slow comeback this time. Asked a friend for his adviceand he came back with:

You might suggest that he take another email message from Gmail, edit it
with the same software he used before. Then just click on the Save icon.
Now, do a save as to find out where Windows thinks it should be.

Hope this helps!
Lorry
