Subject: Boot Sequence

Question
Hi Richard,I have an HP Pavillion with XP Pro I bought a repair cd from ebay and it says to make sure my computer boots from the cd drive but I do not know how to check or change that boot sequence, can you please tell me how to do this?

Answer
You need to go into the BIOS settings for that computer. When you first turn the computer on, usually you'll hit DELETE repeatedly until the BIOS screen loads. Some PC manufacturers use a different key. Honestly, I don't use HP products (see my Blog* for the reason why) so I don't know what their key is - but with most PCs it's DELETE.

Once you're into the BIOS setup program, look for BOOT SEQUENCE and make your CD-ROM drive first. That's it.
