Subject: CD-R disc

Question
I copied all my document files to a CD-R disk and when I tried to access them on another computer it says the file(s) are READ ONLY.  Is there a way I can access these files and make changes?  I tried changing the properties on file by taking check mark out of the Read Only box, but it gives me message "access denied".

Answer
Hi Sandra,

The problem you have having is happening because CD-R disks can only be written to once.  Once you write something to them, they can never be changed.  You can copy the files off the disk and make changes, but you wont be able to copy them back onto the disk.

However, you can buy CD-RW disks, which are slightly more expensive (only like $5 - $10 more) that you can write, re-write and erase an almost unlimited amount of times.

Hope this Helps,
- Brennan
