Windows XP - CD-R disk

Expert: Saad Shawwa - 7/16/2008

Question
I copied all my document files to a CD-R disk and when I tried to access them on another computer it says the file(s) are READ ONLY.  Is there a way I can access these files and make changes?  I tried changing the properties on file by taking check mark out of the Read Only box, but it gives me message "access denied".

Answer
Hello Sandra,
by default when you burn files on CD's DVD's in general , the file attributes will be changed to read only , because you cannot edit any file on the CD at all , you will only have a chance to view them , if you want to edit any file in the cd , you have to copy the files on your computer and edit them , then reburn them on a new cd.

its totally different its not like memory sticks (flash drives) or external hard drives.

if you need more help feel free to contact me back.

take care and good luck.
