Expert: Saad Shawwa Date: 7/12/2008 Subject: Will a HDD with OS XP (reinstalled from other computer) work in similar motherboard ?
Question I took out my HDD from a system which has an ASUS K8S-MX motherboard.
The system was getting slow and hanging. So I was wondering if I can format and reinstall XP with the help of another computer which has the similar series motherboard (K8S-MX) but, not exactly the same as the one I removed it from.
The processors are the same too i.e. AMD Athlon 64, 2800+.
Windows XP Service Pack 2.
BIOS may be different.
Plz help...
Answer Hello Shekar,
yes it should work fine , but when the installation of windows xp is done , do not install any drivers , leave it as it is , then plug it again to the old computer and it should work just fine , then install the hardware drivers.
