About Michael Tedeschi
Expertise
I can pretty much answer any question related to PC`s. My ratings speak for themselves. All I ask is that you ask the question in English.....I do not understand gibberish and I will ask you to resend the question if I cannot understand it. I will do the best I can answering your questions. I've been working with computers for well over 20 years.

Question
OK
so me and my friend have been trying to fix my laptop,
it is an HP Compaq Nc4010 (if that helps)
now the computer is new, but it has no CD drive and no Floppy drive, dont ask me why, so we took a windows professional xp disk, and loaded it on my HP desktop, installed windows on the laptop hard drive, and everything ran smooth, put the laptop hard drive back into the laptop, and the "safe mode/ last known good configuration/start windows normally" black and white screen came on, so we choose pretty much all the options, and then the activity light goes off, and it just sits and does nothing, restarted and unplugged, let it sit, what have you, really don't know what is going on, so if you can help that would be great.

Answer
First, how did you manage to install it on a laptop hard drive through a desktop?

Second, why would you do that....every machine is different and by you installing it on a drive that isnt in the system it is going into installs the wrong drivers and nothing will work.

What you need to do is get rid of the machine....HP is crap, plain and simple....(its a fairly new computer with no cd drive...something is wrong here)

However, I know thats not a practical solution, so what i would tell you to do is to get an external cd rom and install it that way onto the laptop that it will actually be used on, this way all the appropriate drivers will be installed.
