About Ray Barham
Expertise
I can answer just about any question that there is when it comes to anything windows related. I have been a computer technician for about 7 years now and I have the knowledge and experience to provide very detailed answers to situations that may be common, everyday problems or issues that the tech at the local best buy couldn't answer.

Experience
I have been in the computer industry for 7 years. In my years in this field, I've served as a computer technician, a consultant, a network engineer, a salesman and both inside and outside technical work.

Organizations
I am the owner / operator of Xtreme PC, located in Elkhart, IN. We specialize in computer repair for a fraction of the cost. We have developed a way to get a computer fixed and shipped back to the customer for less that the local shop in their city would be able to do it for. And we have a 4 business day return policy.

Education/Credentials
I completed all the course to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, but I stopped after the first test because I found that I wouldn't make any more money with all 7 test completed as I was making with one

Past/Present Clients
I used to be an expert here. I just got so busy that I couldn't keep up with the amount of questions

Subject: Loading windows xp

Question
Mr. Barham,

I've read all the tips and suggestions, and nothing has worked.  My hard drive died, so I purchased a new, larger capacity one.  I tried loading my windowsxp cd (yes, I changed BIOS to boot from CD first!). It goes through almost the whole process, then restarts and tries to boot all over again.  If I turn off the computer, and change BIOS to boot from the hard drive, I get "operating system not found".  However, Windowsxp IS loaded, because when I tried to install again, it showed up as already being on the hard drive! I rechecked all of my cables and connections, and the hdrive IS the one specified for the computer.  Anything else I can try? Thanks.
Dom

Answer
Let me ask you a couple of question:

1. Is it an IDE hard drive or a SATA hard drive?

2. When it says, "Press any key to boot from cd", after you the system has rebooted, do you press it.  For example:

you press it once to start the install process.  The system goes through and now has to reboot.  Do you press a second time at this point?
