Windows XP - Restore

Question
I have a HP Pavillion a1110n and it is out of warranty.  It will not restore to a safe date. I keep getting the message that I should pick a different date, but I still receive the same message.  I originally started having problems when I attempted to do a backup with recovery disks.  Since them, the disk drive would not work properly.  The disk drive will not close completely and continues to pop open. Also (as if that's not enough), I have a very slow startup.  The cursor continues to blink (flicker) over 100 times before I see the Windows icon.  Can you help or should I just get a new one?
Thanks,
Patricia

Answer
Hello Patricia,

I suggest you visit my website at http://tpsconsulting.com and read the TIPS page on OPTIMIZING your computer. Then go to the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page where you should then install all the programs from the PINK section as they will help with the cleaning/removal and  ongoing maintenance from the spyware/malware issues you are currently faced with. Such programs as CCleaner, using the TOOLS from within this program and then in to the START up, as well as REGCLeaner which can do the same thing, as well as Hijack this.. these along with the rest from this pink section I find are vital tools in the removal and ongoing maintenance.

Hope this helps,

Sincerely

Mike Dacre
