Question
I run Windows XP Home Edition.  I got a nasty virus "Antivirus XP 2008", it has hyjacked my computer.   I have already tried using a Virus program (Spyhunter), it found the virus and I removed it, but it is still on my computer.  Most of my programs are gone and it keeps trying to get me to use their program (Antivirus XP 2008) to get rid of my viruses.I have the Dell Reinstallation CD for Windows XP including SP1.  When I tried to reinstall it I could not get anything to happen when pressing F12 at start-up, when I tried to run it manually it gave me message "this version of Windows is older than version on computer now" so it would not work that way either.   What I was thinking about doing was getting a upgrade of Windows Vista and doing a clean install.  Do you think this would help my computer? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Answer
Hello Sandy,

I suggest you get rid of the present/current anti-virus program installed in your computer and go for the one in the link below. There is no cause for Operating System re-installation;

http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/1043_zl/zasuiteSetup_en.exe

Instructions below salutations....
Restart the computer when prompted and finish installation.
Scan for infections.

Kind Regards,
Lenny.
