Windows XP - Vista Backup problem

Expert: Saad Shawwa - 7/6/2008

Question
I can not backup my laptop. When I run the backup it errors out "Not enough space to save the backup file. Change your backup settings (0X81000005).

My backup drive has 12.9MB free of 8.12GB. I have an external hard drive that I could use for a backing up, how would I set this up? Or should I do something else?

Answer
Hello Allen ,

its nothing about the settings , it is all about free space , you are trying to backup a large amount of data on a 12.9m which is impossible .

such as if you are trying to backup your C: drive which lets say it is a total of 20GB , it will not be backup on your backup drive which has 12.9mb free space.

you need to back it up on another supported media with a lot of free space for example external Hard Drives.

if you need more help feel free to contact me back

take care and good luck.
