Question
hey mike,
when i do to defrag my computer it says chkdsk/f what does that mean? how can i dix that problem? i have windows xp and whenever i checked something else my d drive was gone how do i get that back?

Answer
Hello Amanada

First of all there is a very good chance your system is infected with some spyware/malware issues that should be cleaned out and then a 'chkdsk' run on your system.

I suggest first visiting my website at http://tpsconsulting.com and read the TIPS page on OPTIMIZING your computer. Then go to the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page where I suggest installing all the programs from the PINK section as they will help with the cleaning/removal and ongoing maintenance from the spyware/malware issues that cause so many problems.  Next you should go to MY COMPUTER and right click on the C Drive (most likely the system drive which you want to defrag).. After right clicking on this within the menu you can select the TOOLS tab and then choose Check for errors. Since this will be done when you restart the computer (outside of windows) it should fix any drive errors that can cause defragging to not complete. Depending on the severity of the drive, there may also be 'bad sectors' which can be  marked as bad and no longer used, but this would be a good sign it is time to change out the drive for a new one BEFORE you have even further data loss to the point you can no longer start your system (for example)

Hope this helps,

Sincerely

Mike Dacre
