Question
Hello, Ray
I have reformatted my windows xp successfully, but i have noticed 2 things that i cannot understand
1. whenever i start my computer, it gives me an option to choose which operating system i want to start with
the 2 options are Microsoft Windows XP Home edition. when i pick the first one, everything starts normally, but when i pick the second one it tells me there is an error and sends me back to the "choose operating system" screen. why do I have 2 same operating systems??
2. after reformatting my computer, all files have dissappeared, but there are some folders and files still there which i cannot access, but have not dissappeared after i reformatted my computer. why do some files still exist even after reformatting my computer???
Thanks a lot
Answer John K.
What you did was not a format, but just a new installation. Now you have two windows installs, which only the first one works. If you want to do a format, just rerun the setup and be sure you press ESC to install a new windows and "D" to delete the partitions.
If you are fine with the install but you wanna get rid of the option, then you can use this:
start menu > run > msconfig > boot.ini tab (at top) > delete the second "multidisk0" under the operating systems portion.
