Windows XP - Connecting to internet

Expert: Lorry - 10/31/2009

Question
I did a clean install of her Windows XP Professional (2002) on a friend's old Dell computer. I need to run updates but the only internet connection options are for dial-up and she has DSL broadband. As it is impossible to run an auto-update on this machine, exactly what should I download from MS on my computer to put on her computer so she can access the internet? She is only going to be running the computer to access the internet on a wireless connection, she will not be running applications on it other than Firefox. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Susan,

Microsoft explains Use Windows XP to join a network at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/network.mspx

Also check out the following for more information:

Hope this helps!
Lorry
