Windows XP - Windows Update

Question
My question is actually about Vista.I bought my computer with Vista in Feb 2009 and had Automatic Update on so have assumed that any updates would have been installed. However have just received message that new updates are ready for installation and the update is SP2.I thought this was avaiable in June. My question is 1) Why have I just received this now? 2) Do I need to install this update and if so are there any problems I should look out for? Could it already have been installed and if so how do I check.Would appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks

Alan Butler

Answer
Hello Alan how are you doing

well there is no straight answer for why not the update showed up except that it was scheduled to be downloaded and installed later on which it could if there were a lot of updates available prior to Service pack 2 or windows update check has been interrupted many times.

as i noticed , windows vista made my machine run faster and gave it more stability how ever there are some common problem while applying service pack 2

i advice to make a system restore point before applying service pack 2 and to backup all your informations and data on external media , another thing which alot of people faced during the service pack2  installation is their anti viruses caused the system to crash , so  uninstalling teh anti virus before applying service pack 2 would be a nice step to do. after you apply it and you see it runs ok you can reinstall your AV.

if you need more help feel free to contact me back anytime

take care and have a nice day.
