Windows XP - deleted administrator

Expert: Lorry - 10/30/2009

Question
in users . administrator was deleted . now i am limited to access .can i get the administrator back ? i don't have a xp home disc

Answer
Hi Jeff,

Try starting in Windows in Safe Mode by tapping the "F8" when Windows first starts until you get a window with various ways to start Windows - choose Safe Mode. The Administrator account should still be there. Once in Safe Mode, open the Control Panel, then User Accounts and create a new Administrator account - if the original one isn't there.

Hope this helps!
