QUESTION: Lorry:
Malwarebytes did an OK scan.
It seems to me that there is a bona fide program running that checks for the condition that I am encountering.
I suspect that it is a piece of software in in XP that checks for the codition.
Answer Hi Nicholas,
Usually this happens when spyware takes over, that is why I suggested downloading Malwarebytes. You could download WinPatrol 17.0.2010 from:
http://download.cnet.com/WinPatrol/3000-8022_4-10129149.html
By using the above program, you should be able to stop that from showing on startup.
Another thing you could do would be to open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, under the Advanced tab click Reset under Reset Internet Explorer's settings, Apply, then OK.
Hope this helps!
Lorry
