Question
hello. My friend let us repair the problem of his laptop, it's a Toshiba Satellite L200 laptop. It has pre-installed windows vista OS. His laptop have experienced same problem with viruses that made some of its application bot working. Since the problem persist again and again, i decided to re-format the hardisk. Literally, i did reformat tha whole disk! I was not aware that since the laptop has pre-installed OS, its driver were pre- installed as well (i just found out about this with the help of this site). Though i did have a recovery disc, right now, i have a hard time getting the system work once again... in the middle of recovery it stops beacause there were some .exe files that it cannot locate... is my case already hopeless? or can i still repair the problem of the laptop? please help...

Answer
Hello,

Yes,unfortunately you are going to have to perform a full reinstall with a working disk. I suggest the purchase of a windows 7 disk as you will have a much better operating system than how it was with Vista, and since you are going to have to perform a full install anyway, you would be much better off with windows 7.  As for the data recovery you have created, this will still be useful to recover your data such as documents/pictures, etc.

I suggest visiting my website at http://tpsconsulting.com and read the TIPS page on OPTIMIZING your computer, once you get things back up and running as this will help you with the ongoing maintenance and removal of the malware/spyware issues.  You can then visit the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page where I suggest installing all the programs from the PINK section as they will do the best job of keeping your system optimized.

Sincerely

Mike Dacre
