As the freqent questions about Password related topics are rising up, i dont answer any Questions about "How do i logon my system when i forgot my password". Answering this would be against the laws in my country, and excuse me, i dont know you and nobody can prove me that you really want to log on to your pc and not anyone else. Thx in advance.

Question
Hi Tom

I have a microphone plugged into the pink port at the back of my PC that is running Win XP Home. I tried recoding sound but could not detect it when I played back the Windows sound recorder.

In Control Panel\Sounds and Audio Devices in the Audio and Voice sections, should I have “HD Audio rear input” selected as the Default device for sound recording? For sound playback I have “HD Audio rear output” selected.

In the Master Volume window under "Line In" should I have "Mute" ticked? In the Advanced Controls of Master Volume should I have "1 Disable Digital Output" ticked?

I tried the Sound Hardware Test Wizard and a message came up saying "Cannot complete the sound hardware test wizard. The wizard could not complete the test because your voice was not detected.

Your help is appreciated.
Regards Richard

Answer
Hi

Normally the port where the microphone has to be plugged in is marked with a microphone sign also...i dont know if manufacturers always use the same color for the connectors on the soundcadrs..i use a headset for recording. in the recording options part of the system settings you must find microphone as source also. its not the line in...

regards

Thomas
