Question
How can I get my jpg photos to open in windows & fax viewer? I have PC set to open jpg using windows & fax viewer but they do not. Won't open in Paint eiter or any other program that should open them. These photos were always availabe for viewing.

Answer
Hello Anthony.

The easiest way is to RIGHT CLICK on the file and choose OPEN WITH and from the menu, choose the program you want to use, but you might want to first de-select the checkbox that reads "always use this program' until you are sure the file opens with the program you choose. Once you are sure, simply repeat the steps and this time make sure the checkbox is selected to ALWAYS USE THIS PROGRAM.. that way when you click on that file type it will always use the program you choose.

You might also want to visit my website at http://tpsconsulting.com and read the TIPS page on OPTIMIZING your computer. Then go to the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page where I suggest installing all the programs from the PINK section as they will help with the cleaning/removal and ongoing maintenance from the spyware/malware issues that may be causing the current problems you are having with regards to keeping the correct program as the default... with many malicious programs that could be running in the background, it is not uncommon for some registry hacks to cause a different program to be used even though you have selected another one.. CCLEANER works well in checking the start up section by using the TOOLS of this program.

Hope this helps,

Sincerely

Expertise

I am proficient with all windows platforms. Installation and maintenance of home/business networks and servers. Windows 7, Vista. If you are still using XP then your system is simply too old to be safely surfing the internet and you should upgrade the operating system to Windows 7. If you have windows xp then your question will simply be forwarded to the question pool as I no longer feel it is worthy of my volunteered time, Since Windows 7 can handle systems with as little as 512mb of RAM memory, you have no excuse to not upgrade. If you are having problems and you are using XP there is no point in asking since the problem is with the operating system. Microsoft has stopped supporting this operating system as it is now over 10 years old.. time to upgrade!
