Windows XP/no video

Some time ago, I uninstalled adobe flash because i was having problems and figured I'd just redo it. Well, now I can't even get adobe flash player to install. I have a dell dimension 4550 with windows xp sp2. I feel like something is missing. I search online and it says to download the flash player installer which i do. Once the icon is on my desktop, it won't do anything, won't install. I'm not sure what is wrong. In my control panel, programs etc, there is no adobe or video. I use Mozilla firefox and all the issues I see people having with adobe flash, none have worked for me. I can't seem to play video at all. I appreciate your time.

ANSWER: Hi Mike,

I'm not sure if you tried some of these troubleshooting steps already, but take a look below:

QUESTION: Yeah,I've tried those but i get to downloading the installer, then the icon on my desktop does nothing. I have no flash in control panel. Think I lost something. I used a repair disk, still nothing.

Try using the Adobe Flash Uninstaller:

Restart your computer and then download a new copy of Adobe Flash again and try installing it.

If that doesn't work, follow the remaining steps outlined in that site to see if any of those will help out.
