Windows XP/Blue Screen Crash

Question
Windows XP pro 2002 (service pack 2)
I am experenceing a blue screen crash which causes my computer to close down and reboot.  The fault is intermittant and does not seem to be related to any particular operation taking place - usually when the computer is not being used.  The crash can happen 2 or 3 times a day or not at all for several days.  The blue screen is displayed for such a short time that i can not read what it says and when it reboots all that shows is the MS 'report a fault' option.

So far I have made sure that all programs and drivers are up to date including flashing the bios and checking all bios setting are correct.  Spyware and virus programs are installed and complete system checks up to date.

I realise this is a difficult problem but I was hopeing that you would be able to suggest how I could go about tracking down posible reasons.

thanks

tony

Answer
Hi Tony,

It could be a memory problem. Check out the following from Microsoft:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup, delete Temprorary Internet Files, Temporary Files and Recycle Bin.

Defrag and reboot.

Hope this helps!
