Windows XP/Invalid Floating Point Operation

Question
I recently received this error after I re-booted my HP computer into its original factory defaults. I had set my regional settings and once I had finished the Windows logo screen appeared doing its loading thing when I received this error "Set Res 2.40" something in that respect was the header and "Invalid Floating Point Operation" as the message.

I have been googling, but have not found an answer, I have gotten some insight as what it might relate to. But as to solving the problem I got nothing so far.

My computer is a Windows XP Media Center Edition OP.

Thanks for taking the time to read my problem!

Answer
Hello Jose,

My guess is first of all, your computer is in desperate need of a clean up from the malware/spyware issues. I would suggest visiting my website at http://tpsconsulting.com and read the TIPS PAGE on OPTIMIZING your computer. Then go to the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page and install all the programs from the pink section as they will help with the cleaning/removal and ongoing maintenance from the malware/spyware issues.

As to the errors you are getting, a link to the microsoft support page below may be of some help, as it refers to 'upgrading your software', this is typical  if you are not using the latest browser software, you have not updated and using the latest java software (www.java.com) and flash software (www.adobe.com)
Here is the link:

Hope this helps,

sincerely

Expertise

I am proficient with all windows platforms. Installation and maintenance of home/business networks and servers. Windows 7, Vista. If you are still using XP then your system is simply too old to be safely surfing the internet and you should upgrade the operating system to Windows 7. If you have windows xp then your question will simply be forwarded to the question pool as I no longer feel it is worthy of my volunteered time, Since Windows 7 can handle systems with as little as 512mb of RAM memory, you have no excuse to not upgrade. If you are having problems and you are using XP there is no point in asking since the problem is with the operating system. Microsoft has stopped supporting this operating system as it is now over 10 years old.. time to upgrade!

I grew in to computing as it became just that. My full background can be found through my website at http://tpsconsulting.com I have been managing and maintaining client computers since the internet inception which started allowing for remote services. A technical futurist, I am 100 percent GEEK!

Education/Credentials
