Windows XP/Possible Spyware

Question
I've been trying to clean my computer of some troublesome virus.  I've used Norton Antivirus, Spybot Search and Destroy, Webroot Spysweeper, and Antivir to get almost everything detectable out.  However, I've noticed that my system is still a bit slow, and sometimes, the window I have "on top" appears as no longer on top, as if a program is being run that is now "on top," though nothing appears, and eventually, my window goes back to being "on top."  I'm thinking there's a piece of spyware that these are not detecting.  Any suggestions or possibilities of what's going on?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Mbkerr,

Even though you Norton instaed, go to:

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym

Click the GO button, then under Virus Detection, click Start. You might be told that you need to download and install ActiveX Controls for the scan to work, answer Yes.

Write down exactly anything it finds, then go to: http://www.symantec.com/search/  and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually. Make sure that you follow the instructions for removal, step by step, especially the part regarding disabling System Restore.

Before running Spybot, did you get the updates? If not, get them and then run the scan.

Hope this helps!
