Windows XP - Windows XP & Media Player 11

Expert: Lorry - 1/8/2007

Question
I have Windows XP and Windows Media Player 11 on my computer.  I have ripped several music cds on to my computer into the library of Windows Media Player 11 using the rip facility of that program.  I have selected several music tracks and placed them in the burn list (which is smaller than the size of the audio cd) and tried to burn these tracks on to an audio cd (Maxell XL11-80) but get the following message after the program shows that the tracks have been prepared and are pending.
Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs.
I have selected the slowest recording speed and also tried two types of discs.
Please can you help me resolve this problem.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Answer
Hi Charles,

Q.Why am I having problems burning an audio CD?

A.If your computer is running Windows XP, take the following steps:

•Check that your CD recordable (CD-R) or CD rewritable (CD-RW) drive has the recent driver software from Windows Update.

•Try burning different files to the CD to make sure the problem isn't with the files being burned.

•Try different CD brands to see if another brand works.

•Lower the burn speed on your burner. The procedure for doing so varies depending on which version of the Player you are running.

click to collapse  Windows Media Player 11

1.Start the Player, click the arrow below the Burn tab, and then click More Options.

2.In Burn speed, select a slower speed.

The odds are that the driver needs to be updated.

If no luck, have youy ever thought of using Winamp, a free program available from:

Hope this helps!
