I have the following Win XP Home question. When I download pictures from my digital camera into a new folder, I can sort the picture files based on name, size, date picture taken etc. When I download pictures from 2 different cameras into the same folder, the Windows XP sorting mechanism is unable to mix my Kodak and Pentax pictures. When I ask it to view > arrange icons by > date picture taken, it displays all the Kodak pictures according to "date picture taken on" and then all the Pentax pictures according to "date picture taken on" but it cannot mix them and treat all the picture as the same type and sort them all according to their date (and I know that the two sets of pictures have overlapping dates and they are all JPEG's). Is there a way to change that?
Thanks a lot.
Eric
Answer Hello Eric,
My suggestion would be for you to install a third-party photo editing software to sort out your photos. They could be crashing because of the suffixes in their names.By suffixes, I mean the last value that sorts a file for example TREE01.So the suffix in TREE01 is 01 which determines the sorting out of files. If you add more files, the numerical value suffix ascends for example TREE02 and etcetera.
So most probably, your camera software recognizes and sorts the cameras' files in a totally different way.For Kodak, they could be numerically named and Pentax alphabetically....
Getting a reliable photo/image editing software would sort this problem out.
