Wine/Martell Cordon Bleu Brandy

Question
I have a numbered (168253) "Limited Reserve" bottle of this brandy which was purchased in France by my late french father-in-law, which I assume he has had for years. Can one tell from the number how old it is? Similarly does the fact of it being numbered make it special from the value point of view (it is in excellent condition (capsule/labels))? It currently resides with me in Hampshire. Grateful for any advice.  Many thanks

Answer
Hi Graham,

This is Martell's flagship brand, currently retailing in the UK at around the £80 mark, but I don't think the age or provenance would add to that as all spirits last virtually indefinitely - as long as the stopper remains sound and prevents evaporation.

You could ask The Whisky Exchange to correct me from their professional experience if you like (http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/) and they might be willing to make you an offer if you have it in mind to sell.

Regards,

David
