Wine/bottle of a man???

What can you tell me about this bottle year and value?
Valho sweet Lisbon wine
Lisbon, Portugal
imported by John Lawrence Co. Ltd
west orange, NJ

Hi Terry,

I assume from the subject of your question that you have a bottle of Lisbon Wine in the shape of a figure? If so, this will probably have been made as a tourist souvenir and filled with the sweet fortified wine described here:

Unfortunately, the cost of fancy souvenir bottles is often greater than the wine they contain so yours may not be a good example of the type.

It will be a blend of several vintages and thus impossible to date without access to the bottle design records and I'm afraid you'd find it difficult to sell lawfully as the potential value is unlikely to reach the minimum thresholds set by most auction houses and traders. (Which means it's effectively worthless I'm afraid.)

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)

I also participate regularly on several other discussion groups.
