Wine/black velvet Brookside winery

What wine would be comparable to the Black Velvet wine at Brookside Winery in California.  What would be closest to it?

Hi Nancy

This is a great question--and five years ago, I wouldn't have had a very good answer.  But in the last five years a number of wineries have released a sweeter style red wine that compares quite well with Brookside's Black Velvet.  And many of them have national distribution---which is something that Brookside never had!

Conundrum Red
Barefoot Sweet Red
Sutter Home Sweet Red wine
Yellowtail Sweet Red Roo

It's a big category these days, and once you find the right part of the store, you'll be amazed at how many there are!  And they are pretty good, too.

Hope that helps
