Question
How should I sell a 1966 Romanee St Vivant and a 1964 Chat au Longueville Pauillac-Medoc au Baron de Pinchon-Longueville ?  And how much for ?  I am thinking to use "Ibuywineonline.com" or eBay.  Is this a mistake?

I am very grateful for your help and expertise.

Answer
Hi Allison,

EBay would be  a BIG mistake as they don't accept wines!

I don't have any experience of Ibuywineonline but they might be worth a try, or Wine Commune's auction system (http://www.winecommune.com/) might be a better alternative.

Be prepared for disappointment though as these are both very old and buyers will seek assurance that the bottles are pristine in terms of level, label and capsule, and that they've always been kept lying down in a cool dark place.

Good luck!

David

Expertise

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

Experience

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)
