findlater bottle
findlater bottle
hi there, I'm hoping you may be able to give me some information about a bottle that my husband and I found buried in the ground, it has Findlater London with the number 3 imprinted in the base of the bottle and not a lot else, I will follow this question with photos as we'd like to find out what it was used for, how old it is roughly and where it would have originated from, the value if worth anything would be good, as we have pets that could damage it, thank you

Answer
Hi Abigail,

There's a bit about Findlaters at http://www.findlaterws.ie/aboutus/history-of-findlater-wine-merchants that may help you.

But I'm not an expert on old bottles so I suggest you look at http://www.britishbottleforum.co.uk/webpage/ too.

Regards,

David

Expertise

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

Experience

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)

I also participate regularly on several other discussion groups.
