My parents have a bottle of veuve clicquot dated 1919. The bottle is in good condition and the cork has still has the foil and wire on it. The label looks good as well. How much do you think this bottle would be worth.

Many Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Stephen,

This is very difficult to value as Champagne of this age would only appeal to collectors and enthusiasts wanting to try one for the experience.

Please come back telling me whereabouts in the UK you are and I'll see if I can suggest a specialist auctioneer who might be able to help.

QUESTION: Thank you David for responding. We live in Norfolk, near Norwich.

Thanks Stephen

Hi Stephen,

I think the nearest auctioneer to you who holds regular wine auctions is TW Glaze in Diss ( ) so I'd start by making an appointment to meet their specialist valuer there.

An alternative would be to try these on-line wine auctioneers:

Good luck,

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)

I also participate regularly on several other discussion groups.
