Question
my father has this bottle of red that has been at his house since I was a child - would it have any value other than for putting on ones chips? thank you :) kim

Answer
Hi Kim,

Ponnelle is a reputable name in Burgundy (see http://www.albertponnelle.fr/en/history.php) so I'm sure this would have been a good buy. But it wouldn't be easy to sell a single bottle so I can't see any value I'm afraid.

And, unless your childhood memory is from after 2000, it's also unlikely to be pleasant to drink now.

Red Burgundy vinegar is excellent in salad dressings - or to put on chips (and vastly better than the malt variety) - so this might be of interest if you fancy making some: http://www.winespectator.com/drvinny/show/id/5023

Expertise

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

Experience

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)

Organizations
I also participate regularly on several other discussion groups.
