Wine/Is this wine worth openin?

Question
I cleaned out my sister's house recently, including a lot of liquor. She has two unopened bottles of Yago Rioja Rosado/Rioja Santiago wine, one from 1971 and the other 1972. Are they worth anything more than being interesting looking bottles? If the wine isn't good any more, would it make decent wine vinegar?

Answer
Hi Joyce,

These are now very old so I wouldn't hold out much hope of pleasure from drinking them; and they'd be impossible to sell so your ideas of keeping them on display or using them to make vinegar both sound good.

(I've never made vinegar but this might help: http://www.winespectator.com/drvinny/show/id/5023)

Expertise

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

Experience

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia.
